Got Your 6 Congratulates NFC Defense on Winning ABC’s "Celebrity Family Feud"
WASHINGTON (July 5, 2016) – Fresh off the victory by the National Football League Players Association’s (NFLPA) NFC Defense during a special episode of ABC’s Family Feud, Got Your 6 congratulated the winning team for supporting its national veteran empowerment movement. As a result of the team’s win over AFC Offense on the iconic game show, Got Your 6 received a $25,000 donation from the ABC Television Network.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to watch NFLPA’s NFL Defense dominate AFC Offense on ‘Celebrity Family Feud’ in support of our veterans,” said Got Your 6 Executive Director and Iraq War veteran Bill Rausch. “More importantly, we are honored that NFLPA used this opportunity to bring Got Your 6’s veteran empowerment message to Family Feud’s national audience. NFLPA continues to be a tremendous supporter of Got Your 6, our nation’s veterans, and their families. Through this partnership, we are working to ensure that veterans are seen as the civic assets and community leaders that they are.”
During the July 3 episode of “Celebrity Family Feud,” NFC Defense, led by Thomas Davis (Carolina Panthers), and including Malcolm Jenkins (Philadelphia Eagles), Cliff Avril (Seattle Seahawks), Terrance Knighton (New England Patriots), and Tyrann Mathieu (Arizona Cardinals), played to support Got Your 6, a collaborative campaign that believes veterans are leaders, team builders, and problem solvers who have the unique potential to strengthen communities across the country.
“Supporting Got Your 6 means supporting the idea that veterans are leaders, winners, and champions for America,” said Thomas Davis, Carolina Panthers linebacker and the episode’s NFC Defensive team captain. “My teammates and I could not have been more proud to play on behalf of Got Your 6 and to represent all veterans over Independence Day weekend.”
In Sept. 2015, the NFLPA added Got Your 6 as a charitable partner in its support of veterans as they continue their service at home.
About the NFLPA
The National Football League Players Association is the union for professional football players in the National Football League. Established in 1956, the NFLPA has a long history of assuring proper recognition and representation of players’ interests. The NFLPA has shown that it will do whatever is necessary to assure that the rights of players are protected—including ceasing to be a union, if necessary, as it did in 1989. In 1993, the NFLPA again was officially recognized as the union representing the players, and negotiated a landmark Collective Bargaining Agreement with the NFL. The current CBA will govern the sport through 2020.
