Got Your 6 Applauds VA's Announcement on Electronic Health Records

Change would integrate DoD, VA health records

WASHINGTON (June 5, 2017) — The veterans empowerment organization Got Your 6 issued the following statement applauding the Department of Veterans Affairs Sec. Shulkin’s announcement earlier today that VA will adopt the same electronic health record system used by the Department of Defense:

We at Got Your 6 strongly support Secretary Shulkin’s announcement to use a commonsense solution to fix the issue of separate DoD and VA health records. Despite broad support from the veteran community and a drum beat of bipartisan Congressional demands, bureaucratic red tape has stalled the seamless integration of electronic health records between the departments for over a decade. As the Secretary has said, fundamental change — not incremental change — is what the VA needs, and we applaud his clear commitment to such fundamental change through this major announcement. We look forward to continuing to work with the Secretary to find solutions to other areas of concern and advocating for a veteran-centric VA.
